Boating in New Brunswick
New Brunswick has it all when it comes to boating: coastal regions and inland lakes and rivers, breathtaking bays or the ocean, the amazing Bay of Fundy, the serene Saint John River, and a portion of the Northumberland Strait. The Saint John River is a huge river system, the largest in Atlantic Canada. Boats can navigate the river to Fredericton, the Capital of New Brunswick. The fresh water of the river provides a nice change from the salt water Fundy, and the peaceful rural way of life is seen as your boat meanders through fields, leafy valleys and small riverside towns.
All operators of recreational powerboats in Canada require a Pleasure Craft Operator Card*, commonly known as a New Brunswick Boating License. Boaters caught without an Operator Card* risk a minimum $250.00 fine. Obtaining an Operator Card is also the best way to gain the knowledge you need to boat with confidence!
