Boating in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is across the Bay of Fundy from New Brunswick and home to over 6,700 lakes and 130 rivers. Nova Scotia offers an abundance of boating and fishing experiences. There are five main coastal regions in Nova Scotia to discover: the Southern Shore, South Shore, Halifax Harbour, Eastern Shore and Cap Breton Island. Wherever you choose to go boating in Nova Scotia you are require to carry a Pleasure Craft Operator Card with you.
All operators of recreational powerboats in Canada require a Pleasure Craft Operator Card*, commonly known as a Nova Scotia Boating License. Boaters caught without an Operator Card* risk a minimum $250.00 fine. Obtaining an Operator Card is also the best way to gain the knowledge you need to boat with confidence!
