BOATsmart! Canada Safe Boater
Program
BOATsmart! Canada is Canada’s premier Safe Boater training and
testing program.
Designed to meet and exceed all Canadian Coast Guard’s
requirements, the program enables boaters to learn the skills
and gain the knowledge necessary to pass the BOATsmart! Canada Challenge
Exam and obtain their Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
Step 1: BOATsmart! Canada Safe Boater Training
BOATsmart! Canada Safe Boater Training is available from a variety
of sources throughout Canada. Boaters are encouraged to complete
safe boater training before attempting the BOATsmart! Canada Challenge
Exam. Each of the BOATsmart! Canada training options includes everything
you need to learn in order to obtain your Pleasure Craft Operator
Card.
You have four options to participate in the BOATsmart! Canada Safe
Boater Training program. These include the BOATsmart! Canada Safe Boating
Manual, CD-ROM, Online Study Guide and Classroom Course. Click

Step 2: BOATsmart! Canada
Challenge Exam
Once you are ready to obtain your Pleasure Craft Operator
Card you can attempt the BOATsmart! Canada Challenge Exam.
BOATsmart! Canada offers the Challenge Exam in local communities
across Canada. The Challenge Exam is administered by:
- The BOATsmart! Canada Safe Boating Team
- Certified BOATsmart! Canada Affiliates
- BOATsmart! Canada Retail Partners
The BOATsmart! Canada Safe Boating Team visits
local communities to conduct safe boater training and testing.
Testing is also administered at BOATsmart! Canada Retail Partner
locations and by our national network of Certified BOATsmart! Canada
