Become a Proctor and Administer the Exam
 

Step #1 – Boater Registration

  • Cost: $44.95 + GST
  • Payment by secure Visa, Mastercard, Cheque or Money Order
  • BOAT SMART ID and Password are issued immediately
  • Your exam MUST be supervised (see step 2 below)
  • Exam Retry Fee: $15.00 + GST if required

Step #2 – Supervisor Registration

  • Cost: FREE
  • Supervisor must monitor the boater when he/she takes the exam
  • A  Supervisor is a non family member
  • Supervisors do NOT require a Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • SUPERVISOR ID and Password are issued immediately
  • Supervisors MUST sign and submit a SUPERVISOR AGREEMENT for approval
  • IMPORTANT! Supervisor Accounts can only be activated during regular business hours:
    • Mon to FRI
    • 9AM to 5PM EST
    • Closed on Statutory Holidays

 Step #3 – Take The BOAT SMART Exam

  • 36 Multiple Choice Questions
  • 45 Minute Time Limit
  • 75% Passing Grade (27 right answers out of 36)
  • Print a Temporary Operator Card when you pass
  • Automatically review any wrong answers
  • Permanent Pleasure Craft Operator Card mailed to you in two weeks
