Arizona&#8217;s boaters must understand and comply with efforts to contain and prevent AIS from spreading to other waterways.<\/p>\n<h2>Arizona&#8217;s Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Quagga &amp; Zebra Mussel<\/li>\n<li>Rusty Crayfish<\/li>\n<li>Red Claw Crayfish<\/li>\n<li>New Zealand mudsnail<\/li>\n<li>Didymo, a.k.a. rock snot<\/li>\n<li>Giant Salvinia<\/li>\n<li>Asian Carp (Silver, Black, Bighead)<\/li>\n<li>Apple Snail<\/li>\n<li>Snakehead<\/li>\n<li>Whirling Disease<\/li>\n<li>Largemouth Bass Virus (LMB Virus)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>List of AIS affected waters in Arizona:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Lake Powell &#8211; QM<\/li>\n<li>Lake Mead &#8211; QM, NZM<\/li>\n<li>Lake Mohave &#8211; QM, NZM<\/li>\n<li>Lake Havasu &#8211; QM, Didymo<\/li>\n<li>Lower Colorado River below Lake Havasu to Mexico &#8211; QM, GSalv, Apple<\/li>\n<li>Lake Pleasant &#8211; QM, LMBV<\/li>\n<li>Lee&#8217;s Ferry &#8211; NZM, WD<\/li>\n<li>Lower Salt\/ Verde River &#8211; Apple<\/li>\n<li>Bartlett, Saguaro, Roosevelt Lakes \u2013 LMBV<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Prevention is Key<\/h2>\n<p>Preventing the spread of aquatic nuisance species is the most environmentally sound and cost-effective method for battling aquatic hitchhikers. Prevent Aquatic Nuisance Species by doing the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean all recreational equipment before and after using all waters.<\/li>\n<li>Do not release or put plants, fish or other animals into a body of water unless they came out of that body of water (also do not release them into storm drains, because most storm drains lead to bodies of water or wetlands).<\/li>\n<li>Do not release unused bait into waters (make sure to check regulations before using bait).<\/li>\n<li>Do not release anything from an aquarium into any body of water or storm drain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Day Use Decontamination Steps:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1)<\/strong> Before leaving the waterway clean\/remove any clinging material such as plants, animals and mud from anchor, boat, motor, and trailer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2)<\/strong> Remove the plug (if applicable) and drain the water from the bilge, live-well and any other compartments that could hold water. If applicable, also allow for water to drain from engine, engine cooling system(s), and lower unit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3)<\/strong> Ensure that watercraft, vehicle, equipment, or conveyance are allowed to dry completely before transportation.<\/p>\n<h2>Long Term-Moored Boat Decontamination Steps:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1)<\/strong> Clean\/remove any clinging material such as plants, animals and mud from anchor, boat, motor, external equipment, and trailer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2)<\/strong> Remove the plug (if applicable) and drain the water from the bilge, live-well and any other compartments that could hold water.
