Furthermore, it is an offense for persons under the age of 21 to purchase, possess, consume or be under the influence of alcohol.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Ohio&#8217;s boating and alcohol laws, a person convicted of operating a boat while under the influence will be subject to the following penalties:<\/p>\n<h2>Upon a first offense:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of 3 days in jail and a $150 fine.<\/li>\n<li>A maximum of 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Upon a second offense:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of 10 days in jail and a $150 fine.<\/li>\n<li>A maximum of 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Upon a third offense:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of 30 days in jail and a $150 fine.<\/li>\n<li>A maximum of up to 1 year in jail and a $1,000 fine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Incapacitated Operators Prohibited<\/h2>\n<p>No person shall operate any boat if unable physically or mentally to operate in a safe and competent manner. No person shall permit the operation of a boat that is in violation of this section.<\/p>\n<h2>Implied Consent<\/h2>\n<p>Any person operating a boat on Ohio waters is deemed to have given consent to a chemical test or tests of their blood, breath or urine to determine if they are impaired by drugs and\/or alcohol. \u00a0Refusal to submit to testing can result in the revocation of the operator\u2019s privilege to operate a boat or waterskis, or register a boat for a period of one year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","format":"standard","article-category":[10],"article-tag":[22,42,247,295],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v14.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Ohio&#039;s Boating and Alcohol Laws and Regulations<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Learn about Ohio&#039;s boating and alcohol laws.
