{"id":791,"date":"2015-04-30T11:21:44","date_gmt":"2015-04-30T15:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.boatsmartexam.com\/?post_type=article&#038;p=791"},"modified":"2020-03-26T17:44:48","modified_gmt":"2020-03-26T17:44:48","slug":"boat-accident-reporting-in-tennessee","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.boatsmartexam.com\/knowledge-base\/article\/boat-accident-reporting-in-tennessee\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee&#8217;s Boat Accident Reporting Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What to do if you&#8217;re Involved in a Boat Accident<\/h2>\n<p>Tennessee&#8217;s boat accident regulations require that boat operators involved in a boating accident is required to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stop their boat at the scene.<\/li>\n<li>Render assistance to any person who has been injured or who is in danger so long as they can do so without risking their safety or their passenger&#8217;s safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><strong><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/ReportingBoatAccidentsStaticFix-01.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-726\" data-original=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/ReportingBoatAccidentsStaticFix-01-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Boat Accident Reporting\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Boat Accident Reporting<\/h2>\n<p><strong>A written accident report must be filed with the Tennessee Wildlife and Resources Agency (TWRA) within 48 hours if:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A person is killed.<\/li>\n<li>A person is injured and requires treatment beyond first aid.<\/li>\n<li>A person disappears from the boat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A written accident report must be filed with the TWRA within 10 days if:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Property damage exceeds $2,000 or there is total loss of the boat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Boat operators involved in incidents where persons are seriously injured or killed may be charged with a felony resulting in a fine of $10,000 and 15 years imprisonment.<\/p>\n<h2>Tennessee&#8217;s Marine Permits<\/h2>\n<p>Boat races, marine parades and any other special aquatic events which may restrict local navigation or require additional patrol by wildlife officers, may not be held without first obtaining a permit from the Executive Director of the TWRA.
