As a boat operator, you should be able to identify different hull styles and recognize the <a href=\"http:\/\/operating-a-personal-watercraft\" data-wplink-url-error=\"true\">unique handling characteristics<\/a> of each:<\/p>\n<h2>Round-Bottom:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/ROUNDBOTTOMHULL-01.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-572\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/ROUNDBOTTOMHULL-01.jpg\" alt=\"Round bottom hull\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Typical to sailboats and canoes, round-bottom hulls are less stable and tend to \u2018roll\u2019 in waves. You should be very cautious when <a href=\"\/article\/capsizing-emergencies\/\">loading, entering or exiting<\/a> a round-bottom boat as it may roll easily.<\/p>\n<h2>Flat-Bottom:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/FLATBOTTOMHULL-01.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-573\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/FLATBOTTOMHULL-01.jpg\" alt=\"Flat bottom hull\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Boats with this hull type are designed for slow speeds and calm water. Flat-bottom boats tend to be less stable than other hull types in rough water.<\/p>\n<h2>Deep \u2018V\u2019 Bottom:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/DEEPVBOTTOM-01.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-574\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/DEEPVBOTTOM-01.jpg\" alt=\"Deep V bottom\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the most common type of powerboat hull.
