Boating License Requirements<\/h2>\n

According to Oklahoma’s boating license requirements, it is illegal for a child under 12 years of age to operate or be permitted to operate a boat or a personal watercraft (PWC) with more than 10 horsepower, or a sailing vessel that is 16 feet or greater in length.<\/p>\n

\"Boating<\/a><\/p>\n

Persons that are 12, 13, 14, and 15 years of age must successfully complete a NASBLA-approved Boating Safety Course before operating any boat or PWC powered by a motor or combination of motors in excess of 10 horsepower, or a sailing vessel that is 16 feet or greater in length. If the boat being operated is other than a PWC, there must be a competent person at least 18 years of age on board and in a position to take immediate control of the boat, if necessary. If the boat being operated is a PWC, there must be a competent person visually supervising the operator within 500 yards of the PWC.<\/p>\n

Every boat operator must carry either their original Boater Education Card, commonly called a boating license, as proof that they have completed the required course, or photo identification as proof that they are exempt from the education requirement. Failure to carry the Boating License (Boater Education Card) or proper identification is illegal.<\/p>\n
