The Certificate of Number must be on board and be available for inspection by an enforcement officer during boat operation.<\/p>\n<p><b>Which boats require registration?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All motorized boats.<\/li>\n<li>All sailboats (with or without a motor).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Certificate of Number and validation decals are obtained by submitting an application and fee to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdwfp.com\/\">Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, &amp; Parks<\/a> (MDWFP). Boat registrations are valid for 3 years and expire on the last day of the month in which the original or transferred certificate was received.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mississippi&#8217;s Boat Registration Info<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The DNR must be notified within 15 days when:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The boat is destroyed or abandoned.<\/li>\n<li>The owner changes their address.<\/li>\n<li>There is a transfer of boat ownership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If a boat is stolen, you must report the theft to the local authorities who have jurisdiction in that area and then to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.<\/p>\n<p>If you lose or destroy your Certificate of Number or decals, you must apply to the MDWFP for replacements and submit processing fees.<strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Number and Decal Placement:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The numbers must be applied as a decal, painted or permanently affixed to each side of the boat\u2019s bow (boat owners are not permitted to display any other numbers in this area).<\/li>\n<li>The numbers must be in bold block letters that are at least 3 inches high and in a color that contrasts with the color of the boat.<\/li>\n<li>The numbers must be separated from the letters by a hyphen or by an equivalent space<\/li>\n<li>The numbers must be read from left to right on both sides of the bow.<\/li>\n<li>Validation decals must be affixed on both sides of the boat, preceding the prefix letters of the registration number and 6 inches from the registration number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","format":"standard","article-category":[7],"article-tag":[32,247,260],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v14.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Mississippi&#039;s Boat Registration and Titling Requirements<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Learn about Mississippi&#039;s boat registration requirements.
