Reports shall be sent to and are also available at:<\/p>\n<p><em>State Parks Division,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>1220 South Saint Francis Drive,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Santa Fe, New Mexico, 87505<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(505) 476-3355.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>An accident report must be filed with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emnrd.state.nm.us\/SPD\/\">New Mexico State Parks Division<\/a> within 48 hours if:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A person is killed or disappears from the boat.<\/li>\n<li>A person requires medical treatment beyond first aid.<\/li>\n<li>There is property damage in excess of $100.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is illegal to knowingly make false claims or statements when reporting a collision, accident or casualty.<\/p>\n<h2>Law Enforcement for Boaters in New Mexico<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Boating laws in New Mexico are enforced by officials from the New Mexico State Parks Division, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The director, park custodians and other employees of the division.<\/li>\n<li>Every sheriff in their respective county.<\/li>\n<li>Every member of the State Police.<\/li>\n<li>The Coast Guard (on federal waterways).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Enforcement officers have the authority to stop and board boats to ensure that operators are in compliance with state and federal laws.<\/p>\n<p>Always be sure that you&#8217;re familiar with the accident reporting requirements in your state.
