Adjust your speed so that the\u00a0bow\u00a0of your craft does not become buried in a wave. You should never attempt to jump waves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/03\/HandlingRoughWatersHeroScaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-262\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/03\/HandlingRoughWatersHeroScaled-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Operating a Boat in Bad Weather\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself in increasingly high seas, you should\u00a0make your way to a sheltered mooring,\u00a0such as a protected bay, cove or breakwater. If wave and water conditions make it unsuitable to operate safely, immediately set anchor and signal your need for help.<\/p>\n<h2>Crossing a Wake<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/rhy8c2w9gz?dnt=1&#038;popover=true\" class=\"wistia-popover[height=393,playerColor=7b796a,width=699]\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/embed-ssl.wistia.com\/deliveries\/8d14a29961f3ed19b4ce230fcebca012ceeb2933.jpg?image_play_button=true&#038;image_play_button_color=7b796ae0&#038;image_crop_resized=600x338\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><script charset=\"ISO-8859-1\" src=\"\/\/fast.wistia.com\/assets\/external\/popover-v1.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>When attempting to cross a wake, you should reduce your speed and alter your\u00a0course\u00a0to cross the wake at a\u00a045\u00b0 angle. Be aware of traffic that may be in your path as you cross to the other side of the wake. Once you have crossed the wake, resume your speed and\u00a0course.<\/p>\n<p>PWC operators should cross the wake at a\u00a090\u00b0 angle. Doing so will help maintain lateral stability. You should never attempt to jump a wake.<\/p>\n<h2>Operating in Bad Weather<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/03\/operatingInBadWeatherHeroHeroScaled1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-263\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/03\/operatingInBadWeatherHeroHeroScaled1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Boating in foggy weather\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Operating in bad weather is primarily a matter of avoiding collisions.
