Thinking of a new or used boat?
The fall and winter months are a great opportunity to consider a boat purchase. You’ve got the time to do some research and you can always visit a boat show in your area. Here are some tips to help get you started:
What are some things I should do before buying a used boat?
Get it checked out by a boat mechanic. Have it looked at by a Marine Surveyor. Take a test drive. If you wish to tow the boat, find out if your vehicle is equipped for towing or if you need to install something extra (hitch, springs)
What are some things I should look for when buying a used boat?
Some of the areas you want to pay particular attention to for damage or unusual wear and tear are: hull, floor condition, transom (cracks), fibreglass/frame, mechanics (electronics), hull support, etc.
