Boating in Newfoundland
There's 29,000 kilometers of absolutely gorgeous coastline wrapped around Newfoundland and Labrador, enough to stretch back and forth across Canada four times. And there's no better way to enjoy it than by boat. There are also many lakes and rivers inland to spend a day on the water.
Newfoundland is a fisherman’s paradise. There are few fishing destinations in the world that will beat Newfoundland and Labrador. There are more fish species than anywhere else in Canada.
All operators of recreational powerboats in Canada require a Pleasure Craft Operator Card*, commonly known as a Newfoundland Boating License. Boaters caught without an Operator Card* risk a minimum $250.00 fine. Obtaining an Operator Card is also the best way to gain the knowledge you need to boat with confidence!
