Who needs a boater education card in Massachusetts?

In Massachusetts, no person under 12 years of age may operate a motorized boat, unless accompanied on board and directly supervised by a competent person 18 years of age or older.


A person between the ages of 12 and 15 may operate a motorboat on Massachusetts waters only if he or she was pass a state-approved boating education course, or if accompanied on board and directly supervised by a competent person 18 years of age or older.

 

A person 16 years of age or older may operate a motorboat on Massachusetts waters without age restrictions.
